Dr. Fred J. Fowler Collection (MC 70)

Biographical Note

Dr. Fowler was a chiropractor who had a practice in Columbus, Georgia from late 1930s to the early 1970s. He lived on Rt. 2 in Hamilton and at 1303 3rd Avenue in Columbus, which is where he also had his practice, The Chiropractic Clinic. Another address for his clinic is listed as 216 11th St., Columbus, Georgia. He married Sarah Brawner in 1920. She had been a teacher in Augusta, Georgia and was born January 5, 1891 in Lexington, Ga.

Dr. Fowler graduated from the Palmer School of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1929. His yearbook is amongst his papers. He seems to have lived in the Rome, Georgia area and had a clinic in Dalton in 1932-1933 before moving to Columbus. He also held a patent for a couple of agricultural implements.

Most of the papers in this collection deal with the early art of chiropractics of the early 20th century that would be of especial interest to someone interested in this branch of medicine.

The box of patient records from 1932-34 is closed for research unless any information covered by the HIPPA is excluded.

Also of interest are 2 WWII ration cards and a patent for agricultural implements.
